Martine de Baecque

Lithograph Artist
I studied at the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris. My first passion was drawing. After my diploma, I continued my training in the "printed images" section. I connected drawing, paper, and ink to my artistic approach. Lithography brings me two precious things: time and the finesse of expression. My stones offer me the possibility to capture movement in a single, uncorrectable gesture and to allow those who view my lithographs to feel the moment that was captured.

The territories I explore inspire me with dreamlike spaces that my memory reinvests in the studio. I observe natural forms and their movements in nature. A light breeze makes the elements tremble, while the storm forces them. On my stones, with spontaneous gestures, I translate my impressions. Drawing, lithography, and the use of color allow me to create this connection with the environment.

My quest for the moment translates into several actions: collecting, capturing, absorbing, and rendering. The journey becomes the starting point of my artistic approach; the landscape becomes a world of inventions, both for me and the viewer. These creations are meant to be invitations to poetic wandering.
