Biography

Numbered edition of 10
50 × 35 cm
Signed and numbered in pencil by the artist, dry-stamped by the studio

Vincent Tavernier trained at the Beaux-Arts de Versailles and then at the Encre d'art engraving workshop in Toulon. He now lives in Marseille, where he works in his studio in the Cours Julien district.

Strongly influenced by the painter and engraver Emil Nolde and the Die Brücke movement, he also has a foot in the world of children's illustration, and his creations can sometimes also be linked to Art Brut and Art Naïf.

His work is expressive, expressionist, poetic and sometimes melancholy. Engraving (lino and woodcut) is his main creative medium, and for him it is a true mode of expression in its own right, an "autonomous language". In Vincent's work, you can't separate the artist from his gouges; they're a whole. He also regularly paints, notably in sketchbooks where he lets his taste for bright colors explode, and lithographs.
