Fréderic GLON founded ATELIER1867 in 2010 with the aim of working in the film industry and producing his own works of art. Over time, l'Atelier 1867 has become known for making gaming accessories for the cinema, and has thus been able to continue its activity as an engraver, free from any ties of subordination.

Intrigued by the actions of visionary individuals and confronted with the darkest chapters of history, the genesis of Frédéric GLON's works emerges from real events. Yet the wars, dictatorships, politicians and soldiers who populate his imagery are always presented with a fantastical element, a kind of inverted magic realism. This interplay between documented history and imagination has evolved to become a conceptual feature of his artistic work, enabling him to tackle important subjects with an apparent lightness of touch.

The engravings from his graphic novel "The Politician" are distinguished by their pure, high-contrast black and white lines. Their philosophy critically revitalizes the political tradition of engraved images, inspired by early 20th-century novelists such as Otto Nückel and Frans Masereel.
